I’m interested in how space, structure, and perception intersect…how light, horizon, and geometry shape our experience of place.
—Ji Young Yoon
Ji Young Yoon (b. Seoul, South Korea) is a contemporary painter whose artwork explores the dynamic interplay between natural elements and the built environment. Her practice draws on engagement with atmospheric light, geometric structure, and color modulation to transform familiar urban and landscape scenes into compositions that are at once grounded in lived experience and visually resonant.
Born and raised in Seoul, Yoon later moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where she completed her early education and cultivated her interest in visual art. She holds advanced training in painting and has developed a distinctive visual language rooted in the rhythmic interaction of urban forms, natural light, and atmospheric presence. Her work frequently features bold yet harmonious color palettes and clean, hard-edged compositions that capture the subtle tensions of cityscapes and landscapes alike.
Yoon lives and works in Jersey City.
