Focused on the intersection of architecture and geometric abstraction, Christine Falk’s oil paintings smooth the built environment into its essential shapes, colors, and compositions. High rises, apartment blocks, building roofs, facades, views of a skyline - all very real and (often literally) concrete places - find themselves as basic forms on Falk’s canvases. This is not to say they become unrecognizable, however. Even smaller details, like the grids of office building windows, the lines of siding, or the transparency of glass, find their way into Falk’s work. It is this attention to detail that ceaselessly reminds the viewer of what they are looking at, holding urban space and its abstraction in a balance where neither is ever far from, nor takes precedence over, the other. She has exhibited extensively across Germany and internationally.
