We don’t think of ourselves as taking full responsibility for the formation of our glasswork, but rather, we are vehicles for what the art has come to be.
—Resurrect Studio
Resurrect Studio is a collaborative glass practice that approaches the medium as both material and spirit. Working with molten glass, the artists surrender to its unpredictable nature, embracing the chance and transformation inherent in the process. Their work is less about imposing form and more about listening—allowing the glass itself to determine its final state. This philosophy places them within a lineage of contemporary makers who see art not as domination of materials but as co-creation with them.
Based in the U.S., Resurrect Studio has exhibited regionally and nationally, with pieces that range from delicate vessels to sculptural installations. Their work emphasizes the tension between fragility and permanence, transparency and opacity, control and release. By positioning themselves as conduits rather than sole creators, they invite viewers to experience glass not only as an object, but as an unfolding dialogue between artist, material, and environment.
On tis particular piece, the artists write:
With a literal hand on her heart and with total transparency, "Diva Exposed", having received several encores, graces the stage with a downward gaze—a posture of gratitude and humility. She has risen from the depths of a century-old New York City landfill, a testament to her talent and resilience, now the headliner of the Playbill. Crowned with a lampshade and dressed in her royal mantle, her shoes made from ashtrays, she embodies the beauty of transformation, transparently revealing the joy of her inner emotions.
