Summer Showcase: Resurrect Studio
"The pieces collectively tell a story of hope and inspiration, of sacred and profane… Layers came to life like 3D watercolors."
Kelly-McKenna Gallery is proud to announce Summer Showcase: Resurrect Studio, the inaugural exhibition in its Summer Showcase series and the gallery’s first show dedicated entirely to sculpture. Opening on June 20 and running through July 13, the exhibition spotlights the captivating glass-based works of Brooklyn artist duo Resurrect Studio, whose practice transforms reclaimed materials into meditations on memory, healing, and rebirth.
At the heart of the exhibition is the duo’s signature process: excavating shards of 19th-century glass from a former Brooklyn landfill and reassembling them into luminous, resin-bound sculptures they describe as “3D watercolors.” These layered, gemlike forms reflect both the fragility and resilience of transformation—where what was once discarded is now revealed as precious, mysterious, and alive with new meaning.
Much like Kelly-McKenna Gallery’s recent Into the Woods exhibition, Summer Showcase: Resurrect Studio continues the gallery’s thematic focus on renewal and nature’s capacity to restore. But while the forest served as metaphor in Into the Woods, here it is the alchemy of glass, light, and time that serves as medium and message. The exhibition invites viewers to slow down, observe closely, and witness how memory and material can be reconfigured into quiet revelations.
