Loren Eiferman’s sculptures operate as three-dimensional drawings constructed entirely out of wood. Her complex, winding forms are composed of hundreds of individual segments of foraged tree limbs that have been meticulously joined together. By filling and sanding every joint until the seams completely disappear, Eiferman coaxes these fragments into what looks like a singular, continuous line flowing through space. The resulting biomorphic forms occupy a strange middle ground: they look entirely organic, as if they grew naturally out of the earth, despite depicting botanicals that do not exist. In Ever New Waters, Eiferman brings this sensibility to intimately scaled drawings, where hints of the botanical surface in depictions of the female figure. She has exhibited extensively across the United States and her art is held in the public collections of the Cygna Corporation, Morgan Stanley Trust, Security Pacific Bank, and many private collections throughout the US and Europe.
