Nike Schroeder is a German-born contemporary artist whose multidisciplinary practice explores color, movement, material, and the emotional associations of the everyday. Best known for her distinctive thread paintings, Schroeder uses thousands of strands of rayon thread stitched into canvas and left to hang freely, creating richly tactile surfaces that shift between painting, drawing, and sculpture. Her abstract compositions often originate in emotional responses to nature, music, and storytelling, translating these experiences into carefully orchestrated fields of color and movement. Born in Hamburg and educated in Art Therapy and Fine Arts at the University of Applied Sciences in Ottersberg, Germany, Schroeder has lived and worked in Los Angeles since 2012. Her work has been exhibited internationally in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Hamburg, Berlin, New York, and elsewhere, including presentations at the Museum of Art and History in Lancaster and the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery. Her work has also been featured in numerous publications examining contemporary fiber and textile art.
